Perham Pioneer Festival Aug. 17-19

Celebrate your heritage at the East Otter Tail Historical Society's 36th annual Perham Pioneer Festival. The festival will be held August 17, 18, and 19 at the Pioneer Grounds just north of Perham on County Road 8 (1st Avenue North).

Celebrate your heritage at the East Otter Tail Historical Society's 36th annual Perham Pioneer Festival. The festival will be held August 17, 18, and 19 at the Pioneer Grounds just north of Perham on County Road 8 (1st Avenue North).

Admission for the 2007 festival is $3 per person or $5 for the whole family.

The event kicks off on Friday when the Lake Country Mountaineers Black Powder Club registration begins for a 3-day rendezvous adjacent to Pioneer Village. The evening will conclude with an 8:00 p.m. concert with Café Accordion Orchestra.

On Saturday, there will be a bluegrass concert from 1 - 3 p.m. with Blue Hazard. The tractor and truck pull will run from 4 - 8 p.m. Jason the Juggler is also performing throughout the day on Saturday.

On both Saturday and Sunday, from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m., there will be folk art demonstrations, log sawing, wood carving, spinning, soap making, wheat weaving, lace making, and much more. Clann Tartan will be conducting Scottish Living History Demonstrations and Dancing.

'Living History' actors will be performing at the Pioneer Village, and there will be Westby House Log Cabin exhibits. Both days will also feature good food all day at the Pioneer Café, with ice cream available at the General Store.

Special Sunday activities include an old fashioned gospel hour church service with the Uffda Mountain Boys at 9 a.m. A concert will be held from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Horseshoe tournaments are scheduled from 11 - 3 p.m., with a kid's pedal tractor pull from 11 - 1 p.m. The final concert on Sunday will feature Fiddle and Squeeze from 1 - 3 p.m.
