Perham students excel at State FFA Agri-science fair

Six members of the Perham High School FFA Chapter competed in the University of Minnesota and State FFA AgriScience Fair recently. The chapter members received recognition in several areas.

Six members of the Perham High School FFA Chapter competed in the University of Minnesota and State FFA AgriScience Fair recently. The chapter members received recognition in several areas.

Jennifer Trosvig and Thea Romann placed first in the State competition and received the Purple Ribbon in the Team (grades 10 12) division in the Botany Category with a project titled, The Effect of Root Zone Temperature on Foliage Growth of Lactuca sativa. Tim Fresonke and Nick Devillers placed first in the State competition and received the Purple Ribbon in the Team (Grades 10 12) division in the Biochemistry/Microbiology/Food Science Category with a project titled, An Investigation of the Effects of Herbal Supplements and Creatine on Cell Growth. Stephanie Hamm placed first in the State competition and received the purple Ribbon in the Individual (Grades 10 12) division in the Environmental Sciences Category with a project titled, Investigating the Behavioral Effects of Conjugated Estrogens on Daphnia magna and Hydra oligactis.

Audrey Huwe placed second in the State competition and received the blue Ribbon in the Individual (Grades 10 12) division in the Zoology Category with a project titled, Moosic- The effects of music on the lactation of Bos Taurus .

Jennifer, Thea, Nick, Tim and Stephanie will be competing at the National FFA convention in October and Audrey is alternate for competition.

Advisors for the students are Carl Aakre, Diane Sazama, and Shawn Stafki.
