2007 Sections: Perham won the Section 8A?championship and advanced to State for the 5th straight year. The Jackets finished 3rd at State.
2008 Seniors: Leah Miller (co-captain), Maddie Covington, Gretchen Weber.
Get to Know'em: Maddie McClellan (jr., co-captain), Abby Anderson (jr., co-captain), Jenna?Gigstead (jr.), Holly Sheets (jr.), Shayla Fulford (jr.), Courtney Guck (jr.), Jessica Dreier (so.), Cassie Beseman (fr.).
Strengths: Perham return six of their top seven runners from last year. McClellan finished 4th at State last year, was All-Conference and All-Section. She holds the school 2-mile record, finishing 3rd in the event at State Track last year. Anderson was 6th at State, is the defending HOL?champ and is the school record holder in the 4K (14:36). In track, she was 2nd in State in the mile and holds the school record in that event.
Beseman was All-Conference and 11th at Sections last year. Covington was All-Conference and ran at State Track in the 2-mile last spring. Gigstead and Dreier were All-Conference as well.
Season Outlook: Perham will look to win it's fifth HOL?title this fall. Pelican Rapids and Lake Park-Audubon will return solid teams to challenge the Jackets. Perham will also be the favorite in Section 8A, as they enter the season as the State's No. 3 ranked team. Despite a 3rd place finish at State last year, the Lady Jackets have worked harder than ever this past summer.
Coaches Quote: "Our top-5 will be very tough against any team in the State. Anderson and McClellan provide the biggest 1-2 punch in the State. It will be a special year."
