Though there have been no protests in Perham, police Chief Jason Hoaby said that if one were to occur, safety would be the main concern.
Demonstrations, protests and riots have taken place around the state and country since the May 25 death of George Floyd after being apprehended by Minneapolis police.
Hoaby told the Focus his concern would be on safety, as it is a right for citizens to protest peacefully.
While some police departments in the state have sent officers to help with the riots in the Twin Cities, no officers from Perham police have been sent at this time, Hoaby said.
