For the second consecutive year, Curtis Swanson was the popcorn sales leader for the Oxcart Trails District of the Cub Scouts of America.

This is an outstanding accomplishment considering the Oxcart Trails District consists of twenty three separate Cub Scout packs and includes the counties of Otter Tail, Grant, Wilkin, and Richland.

Curtis sold $2,587 worth of popcorn consisting of 186 different items.

Curtis is a member of Cub Scouts Pack 321 organized in Perham.

Since joining the Cub Scouts in the fall of 2003 Curtis has sold over $2,000 worth of popcorn each year. As a reward for Curtis efforts he has earned several prizes from the Cub Scouts organization including a Play Station II, a portable colored television/DVD combo, and Trails End scholarship funds to be used for college expenses.

The popcorn sales is the sole fundraiser for the local pack of Cub Scouts, so having a salesman like Curtis allows the Cubs to do many different activities during the year. In addition to the monthly pack meetings the cub scouts went scuba diving at the PACC, competed at the pinewood derby, participated in the summer day camp, and summer Webelos camp.

Curtis is the son of Craig and Liz Swanson of Perham.
