It will be a twin bill May 23, when the Perham High School band and orchestra combine for a rare, joint concert featuring both groups.

The Pops Concert starts with a social gathering at 7:30 p.m. on the auditorium lawn, with concert start at 8 p.m.

Were planning to make a pretty big deal out of this concert, said orchestra director James Weaver. He will join forces with band director Adam Tervola-Hultberg to stage the double concert. The only questions remaining: Who gets top billing between these to fine groups? Who is the opening act, and who is the headliner?

As far as the two music directors know, the band and orchestra have never been combined on a large scale.

For the social we will be having the PHS string quintet play outside and the goal of the social is to be a relaxing time to get the audience in the mood for our theme which is "An Evening at the POPS". There will also be some juice and snacks as well.

In this concert the groups are performing Gladiator, Lord of the Rings, James Bond, a jazz piece called Blue Rhythmico, and The One Bow Concerto.

We will then combine the groups to make the PHS Symphony Orchestra to perform Pirates of the Caribbean, and Haydn's Symphony #45said Weaver. This should be a great concert and we are hoping to pack the PHS Auditorium.
