You win a few, you lose a few, and some get rained out. This old baseball saying could easily apply to the Richville Lions club. Their much-anticipated Pasture Party scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 2 was thoroughly rained out.
The rain started on Friday and delayed set up of bleachers and tents. That night the pasture was muddy, but workers were able to go about their tasks during a break in the rain. People were calling from as far away as the Twin Cities to find out about the event schedule.
While everyone hoped for the rain to stop Friday night and the sun to come out strong in the morning, Mother Nature brought four inches of rain to Richville. The event was postponed. The rain continued for most of Saturday.
Committee chair Lisa Werner said, "It was a tough decision, but we know for safety it was the right one."
The club is regrouping and working with the DJ, the truck and tractor pull folks, and the fireworks crew to reschedule the event as soon as possible.

The weather has been playing havoc with Richville Lions' events all year. First there was no snow for a fund-raiser snow mobile run, the temperature hit the highest of the year for the annual corn feed, and now a rain out.
As soon as a new Pasture Party date is set, Richville Lions members will again take to the field.
