The New York Mills Regional Cultural Center is thrilled to present in concert the return of Prudence Johnson on Saturday, May 12 at 8 p.m.

Although this concert shares the same date as the fishing opener we hope it doesn't prevent all the fishing widows and widowers from coming out and enjoying this national treasure. Save the fish for later because a pre-concert dinner will be available at The Creamery on Centennial Drive in New York Mills for just $10.

When reviewing Prudence Johnson's web-site for this article it was amazing to note the success, variety and longevity of her career. Her bio states she has performed in everything from honky tonks to Carnegie Hall, from theatre to the silver screen and from the Midwest to the Middle East. Her singing performance credits include Garrison Keillor's Prairie Home Companion, Robert Redford's A River Runs Through It, and the 2006 Robert Altman film version of A Prairie Home Companion.

Her roots are in folk and country music, but her passion for jazz and the work of the great songwriters of the 20th Century are her current genre of choice. She and Tim Sparks co-founded the vocal jazz group Rio Nido and now a decade and 3 albums later Ms. Johnson is on her own again.

Pianist Dan Chouinard will accompany her. A regional favorite and nationally recognized talent, her concert is not to be missed. Tickets for the event are $10 for members, $12 for non-members and $5 for students.
