With one rain-out behind them, the Jackets didnt need another game washed out, especially against the conference leaders. Thankfully, the rains parted just often enough for Perham to pitch their way to a sweep over Park Rapids on Tuesday, 6-3 and 3-0.

Perham put their ace, Philip Moenkedick on the mound in game one. Although he allowed his first earned runs of the season, Moenkedick picked up his fourth win with a complete game.

His only real trouble of the game came in the top of the seventh after a half-hour rain delay. Moenkedick loaded the bases with no outs, but got out of the jam allowing just one run.

Trailing 2-1 in the fifth, Perham scored four times to give Moenkedick the run support he needed. Tyler Doll drove in two runs with a bases loaded single and moved to third when Ryan Enger followed with a RBI single of his own.

With Matt Kalina at the plate, Doll took a walking lead off third base and never stopped. An awkward slide may have helped him miss the tag as his steel of home gave Perham a 5-2 lead.

Matt Schornack drove in the games final run in the sixth, scoring Andy Kratzkes courtesy runner, Dylan Anderson.

It wasnt Dolls bat or running ability, but his pitching that made the difference in game two. The senior picked up his first win of the season with a two-hit shutout to complete the sweep over Park Rapids.

The offense scored single runs in the second, third and sixth to insure the win. Kalina was 2-for-2 with a sac fly and a run scored. Isaac Stoll went 2-for-2 with a run scored.

The Panthers (5-4, 3-3 Mid-State) had beaten Perham in a non-conference tournament game two weeks ago, 8-2.

The Jackets game last Friday at Moorhead was postponed because of rain. No make-up date has been set.

Perham will remain home this week as they host Detroit Lakes (3-4, 2-1 Mid-State) on May 5 with a doubleheader starting at 4:30 p.m. The Jackets will then hit the road on May 9 for a twin-bill at Staples-Motley (6-2, 3-1 Mid-State).
