Richard D. Dietz of Easton, MD died on Sunday, November 5, 2006 at the Kernar Rehabilitation Center, Baltimore, MD. He was 74.
Born June 16, 1932 in Wahpeton, ND, he was the son of the late Clifford Overby and Hildagard Dietz Ramos. After attending high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1950, during the Korean War, where he remained until being honorably discharged in May of 1954. In 1952 he married Doris Van Horn of Washington, D.C. and resided in Landover Hills, MD. Mr. Dietz was a Paramedic Firefighter for Prince Georges County until retiring in 1981. At that time he and his wife moved to Perham, Minnesota and later back to St. Michaels, MD to be closer to family. In 1988 they moved to Easton, MD. Mrs. Dietz died March 21, 2004.
A resident of Easton since 1988, Mr. Dietz was a member of the Knights of Columbus and E.E. Streets Memorial Post #5118 VFW. In his spare time he enjoyed bowling.
Mr. Dietz is survived by five children, Robert Dietz of Brandywine, Nancy Stebbing of Cordova, William Dietz of Prospect Bay, Jacqueline Naylor and Dustin Dietz, both of Easton; one brother, Tom Ausloos; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife of 52 years, he was predeceased by one daughter, Charlene Dietz.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 9, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, P.A. where friends may call on Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m.
