The Clothing Mission at Richville United Methodist Church is well into its fifth year - and going strong. Started in 2001, clothing and similar items were distributed out of an 8 x 12 foot shed.
Soon the need and response grew to the use of a 10 x 34 foot trailer. A year ago, the Clothing Mission was moved into the basement of the church's new addition.
Five counties are served by this program. On a monthly basis an average of 114 people take with them a total of 150-200 bags of items. September's numbers reached 206 bags. Every month the need grows.
10-12 volunteers each week gratefully accept donations, sort the items and help in disbursement. Additional volunteers are always welcomed.
The public is made aware of the Clothing Mission through social services, Community Action County, word of mouth and, hopefully, through articles such as this one and an earlier one this fall.

Pastor Rod Tornquist hopes the word can spread even further about this service to the public. "We have a lot to offer," he said. Hours of the Clothing Mission are:
Tuesdays: 1-5 p.m.
Wednesdays: 6:30-8 p.m.
Presently, most items of need pertain to the coming season: winter boots, both for children and adults, large men's sweatshirts, children's snow pants and coats, particularly in sizes 8-12. Men's underwear and bedding are also needed. Clothes that cannot be used, and are of a lighter nature, go to an outlet for ministry in Mexico.
