The funeral service for Rose Meadows, 88, Moorhead, MN, will be held on Monday, March 26, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Frazee with Father Joe Richards officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Frazee. Visitation will be on Sunday from 4-7 p.m. with a prayer service beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the Furey Funeral Home, Frazee and one hour prior to the service in the church. Rose died on Thursday, March 22, 2007 in Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead, MN.
Rose Antonia Fischer was born the daughter of Leo and Bertha (Miller) Fischer on August 22, 1918 near Perham, MN in Homestead Township. She was baptized into faith on August 25 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Butler, MN. She began attending country school and then she attended St. Henry's Parochial School in Perham.
Her first job was working as a cook at the Runck Ranch near Casselton, ND. During the 40's she moved to Spokane, WA and during WWII, she worked for a defense plant for $.77 an hour. She was united in marriage to Clarence Meadows on February 13, 1965 at St. Charles Catholic Church in San Francisco, CA. Clarence died on April 18th, 1993. She moved to Alameda, CA with a dear friend and companion, Richard Wilkenson. They enjoyed many fun times, especially dancing. Rose even tapped danced. Rose also enjoyed traveling, having been to France, Spain, Hawaii and to Italy to see the Pope. She enjoyed parades, festivals, dancing and activities. She loved animals and had dogs and later cats. She was good at training dogs to do tricks and even had a goldfish eating out of her hand. She was a kind, gentle and compassionate person.
After 60 years in the San Francisco and the death of her friend Richard, she moved to Moorhead in January of 2005 to live with her niece, Shirley Manning and family. She broke her hip and then resided at Eventide Lutheran Home in Moorhead until the time of her death.
She is survived by two sisters, Florence Collett of Frazee, Margaret (Merle) Erickson of Leipsic, OH; a sister-in-law Dolores Fischer of Ord, NE, cousins in California and many nieces and nephews and dear friends, Lenore Sleeter, Shirley Pape and Mary Scheer.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence, friend Richard, her parents, a brother, Elmer and a sister, Caroline Brekke.
