Roy Ellsworth Redfield age 63 of Wadena, died Wednesday, September 20 at the Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria. Roy was born on January 20, 1943, to Ralph and Opal ( Mickalson) Redfield in Wadena. He was educated in the Deer Creek school and graduated from Deer Creek High School. Roy married Elizabeth Maloney on August 31, 1963, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Deer Creek. Together, they dairy farmed west of Deer Creek, moving to Wadena in 1996. He was a member of the Deer Creek Lions.

Roy enjoyed several hobbies such as: hunting, fishing, collecting model tractors, reading, woodcraft, watching birds, and traveling. He especially enjoyed his four grandsons. Roy is survived by his loving family. His wife of 43 years, Elizabeth, daughter, Pamela (Larry) Gohman of St.Cloud, son, Shawn of Wadena, and his fiancee, Anjanet of Henning. Four grandsons: Cody, Ryan, Alex, and Braeden Redfield. Four sisters: Sandra Schwartz of Kalispell, Montana, Shirley Stiles of St. Cloud, Sharon (Robert) Finn of Wadena, and Karen (Mike) Henderson of Cambridge. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services were held on Monday, September 25 at 1:00 pm at Trinity Lutheran Church in Deer Creek with the Reverend Gunard Heikkila officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill cemetery with the Bielema Family Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Casketbearers were: Larry Gohman, James Hill, Larry Pearson, Randy Stave, Richard Malone, and Randy Maluchnik. Honorary casketbearers were his grandsons, Cody, Ryan, Alex, and Braeden Redfield.
