The 2006 Santa Anonymous collection drive kicked off this week. Collection boxes wrapped by the NY Mills High School FCCLA students are in businesses throughout the community.
Donation boxes are at the following locations: Cenex C-store, East Otter Tail Credit Union, Dean's Country Market, Howie's Clothing, Seip Drug, Hardware Hank, Mills Creamery, Mills Lanes, NYM Public Library, F&M State Bank and the NYM Post Office.
Santa Anonymous is asking the public to consider adopting a family this year. Each volunteer family could make this a special Christmas to remember as they choose gifts and wrap them for their adopted family. To do so, please call 346-4198 or 385-2109 or 385-3603 for details.
New gifts for children from infancy to 18 years of age are needed, especially teenagers. Money donations may be sent to Kay Tougas at 111 N. Broadway in New York Mills or deposited directly into the SA account at the F&M State Bank.
In past years, about 40 to 50 families and as many senior citizens have been served with gifts and food.

Gifts will be collected on Dec.15 and wrapped on Dec.18 and delivered on Dec. 20.
Wrapping will be done in two shifts this year to enable more people to help. It will be 9 to 12 a.m. and 4-7 p.m. at the county office building.
