The Second Street South Project is set to move into the Downtown Avenues during the week of August 13th - 17th. Construction on the avenues will begin on Monday with the removal of the curb and gutter and portions of the sidewalk. The sidewalk closes to the buildings will remain in place until service installation or new concrete construction requires the removal of the concrete. Kuechle Underground will begin underground utility construction on Second Avenue Southeast by installing sanitary sewer and watermain. Services to the abutting properties will also be installed and be followed by the installation of storm sewer.
The concrete construction on the first phase will be completed during next weeks activities and the aggregate will continue to be placed on the driving surface. Paving of the first phase is planned for the week of August 20th.
All travelers are asked to refrain from travel on the roadways where the equipment is constructing the improvements but roadways where no workers are present may
be used to access local businesses. Pedestrians and drivers are asked to respect the construction activities and maintain a safe distance away from the construction activities.
