Sheriff news: Arrests made at Wall Lake
Two Fargo residents were arrested after a stolen jet ski washed up on the east shore of Wall Lake, east of Fergus Falls, on July 21.
Other stolen items, which included a second jet ski, trailer, boat and generator, were recovered. Arrested were Matthew Galt, 35, and Bailey Boulduc, 30.
Charges against Galt included receiving stolen property, a felony. Boulduc was charged with felony motor vehicle theft and receiving stolen property, also a felony.
Sheriff deputies responded after they received a call from a resident at Elks Point Road on 7:49 p.m., saying an abandoned jet ski had washed up the east shore of the lake.
Rose branch impales woman’s arm
An 80-year-old woman who fell at Pickerel Lake, north of Underwood and northwest of Otter Tail Lake, was injured when her arm was impaled by a rose branch on July 25.
She was on a blood thinner at the time of the accident and a daughter was able to take her to the hospital before authorities arrived on the scene after being called at 2:05 p.m.
Driver injured southwest of Battle Lake
A man was injured in a one-vehicle accident at 3:30 p.m. July 22 at Trefoldighed Road and 183rd Street, southwest of Battle Lake.
He lost control of his pickup and the vehicle rolled, according to sheriff deputies. The vehicle was later towed from the scene of the accident.
Boating injury reported
Sheriff deputies reported a boating injury on Saturday, July 27, at Marion Lake, southeast of Dent and northwest of Richville.
It was reported that a boat, at 4:52 p.m., was pulling two tubes with separate ropes. One rope snapped and, in the process of recoiling, wrapped around the neck of a juvenile.
The juvenile was injured and was life-flighted to an area hospital. Responding to the scene, in addition to sheriff deputies, was the county water patrol.
Small shed, items destroyed by fire
A fire on Friday, July 26, destroyed a small shed, truck and trailer at North Lake Lida, northeast of Pelican Rapids.
The fire caused some damage to the outside of nearby house. An investigation was ongoing as of Monday morning, July 29.
Responding to the scene of the fire were fire departments from Pelican Rapids and Vergas.
The theft of a Mercury 4-stroke boat motor was reported July 26 from Big Pine Lake, east of Perham.
The motor was taken from a 14-foot aluminum boat parked near a campground. Value of the motor was estimated at $2,000.
Taken from a pickup box July 26 at the Zorbaz parking lot on the west side of Otter Tail Lake was a back pack containing airpods and clothing.
K-9 assistance to Grant County
Mojo, a Dutch Shepherd, under the direction of Otter Tail County Sheriff Office Deputy Zach Eifert, assisted Grant County (Elbow Lake area) officials July 26 with narcotics and evidence detection.
Several narcotics items were located at 7:51 a.m. at an undisclosed location. A supplemental report by Otter Tail County will be forwarded to Grant County.
