Sheriff news: Perham home destroyed by fire Easter Sunday

Sheriff deputies reported that a house, west of Perham, was destroyed by fire Easter Sunday afternoon on April 12.

Firefighters were called to the scene, on 400 th Avenue, at 1:40 p.m. The house was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived. An outbuilding also was destroyed.

“Nobody was injured, but a family of five was displaced by the fire,” said County Sheriff Administrative Lt. Keith Van Dyke on Monday morning, April 13.

Van Dyke said the cause of the fire was not immediately determined, but no suspicious circumstances were noted.

Fire department personnel at the scene of the fire came from Perham, Dent and Vergas.

Pickup, guns taken after shed break-in

A Ford F-350, guns and ammunition were stolen after a break-in at a shed on 315th Avenue in rural Underwood.

The report came into the sheriff office on April 9. The owner remembers seeing the items for the last time in late March.

Sheriff deputies said the owner reported that someone pried the metal padlock bracket off the shed door.

Drug arrests made

One person was arrested on April 11 in rural Fergus Falls on drug charges. This pertains to fifth-degree possession of hypodermic needles, drug paraphernalia and related violations.

The driver had been pulled over for a driving violation at 3:21 p.m.

Another fifth degree drug arrest was reported at 9 p.m., the same day, at a residence in rural Henning.
