Snowmobile accidents kill one, injure another

A Henning man died Friday, January 25 after the snowmobile he was driving crashed into a group of trees on the south shore of Big Pine Lake.

Mark Allen Shaw, 33, died at the scene. The accident occurred around 11 p.m. near Crosslake in Crow Wing County.

Another snowmobiler was seriously injured after a rollover accident east of Vergas. The incident occurred at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday. Andrew Steven Galletta, 26, of Perham, was initially taken to Perham Memorial Hospital and later airlifted to MeritCare in Fargo.

According to the Otter Tail County Sheriff's Department, Galletta suffered a collapsed lung, concussion, ruptured abdomen, and broken wrist.
