The 2007 Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) Visual Arts Festival will be hosted by the New York Mills Regional Cultural Center from April 24 through May 5. The artwork on display during this event will include 180 pieces from area high school students in grades 9 - 12. Peder Butenhoff, an Art teacher from Staples and a resident of New York Mills, has been organizing the event.

The artwork from the 180 students will be put into categories and judged for Best of Show and subsequent awards. On Wednesday, April 25 from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 to 2:00 p.m., five different workshops will run concurrently covering numerous topics.

Workshops given will include an illustration offering, a found objects and books class by local artist Pam Robinson, jewelry making with nuts, bolts and washers by Perham artist Tish Jensen, a Careers in Art lecture by Paul Johnson from Alexandria Tech, and a creative exercise by Su Legatt formerly from Perham and recent exhibitor at the Cultural Center.

The awards ceremony for the winners of each category, will take place on Wednesday, April 25 at 2:00 p.m. If you'd like to view up and coming talent then make certain you don't miss this show.
