The Perham/New York Mills girls swim team hit the pool last Thursday for their first full meet in a triangular at Staples-Motley High School. The Yellow Jackets started the season on a high note, winning the triangular and beating Sauk Centre for the first time.
Perham won six events and finished with 141 points, edging Sauk Centre by four points. the host Cardinals were third with just 30 points.
The Jackets began the meet by winning the 200m medley relay with Bailey Meyer, Kelsey Kratzke, Abby Kratzke and Leah Richter.

Erika Conlin and Maggie Carlson followed up by finishing first and second in the 200 free, then Kelsey Kratzke won the 200 I.M. to give the Jackets a big early lead.
Perham/NYM?finished 1-2 in three more events, diving (Miranda Phelps and Tiana Lynne), the 100 butterfly (Abby Kratzke and Meyer, and the 100 breaststroke (Kelsey Kratzke and Whitney Carow).
In all, the Yellow Jackets had 16 Section qualifying times from nine different girls in eight events.
Tuesday at St. Cloud
Perham went up against St. Cloud Cathedral Tuesday night in St. Cloud. Final results were not available when EOT?Illustrated went to press.

The Yellow Jackets next meet will be Sept. 8 at Bemidji High School starting at 5 p.m.
