Szymonozicz sets school record in 100m

It was a record setting day for Eagle sprinter Kenny Szymonowicz. The senior, heading for Jamestown College next year, broke the New York Mills school record in the 100m dash at the Hawley Booster Meet on May 1. His time of 11.02 was good for second place.

Szymonowicz also finished third in the 200m (22.99) as the Eagle boys finished 11th (19 points). Perham won the boys title with 114 points.

The girls finished fifth at Hawley (46). The Perham girls also took team honors (132).

Ashley Hagen was first in the high jump (5'2") and third in the long jump (14'10.5").

Emmel Invite

Szymonowicz didn't set another record Thursday at the Emmel Invite in Pelican Rapids, but he did get a first place finish in the 200m (23.13). He finished second in the 100m (11.61).

Mills finished with 40 points, good for sixth place. The Breckenridge boys ran away with the team title (153.5).

Ben Jacobson was third in the 110m hurdles and sixth in the 300m hurdles, while Joel Huch was fourth in the high jump and sixth in the long jump for the Eagles.

The girls were led by another first place finish in the high jump for Hagen (5'0"). They only managed 19 team points, however, to finish 10th. The Perham girls won the team title with 101 points.

Brittnie Menze finished fourth in the shot put and fifth in the discus. Alli Slieter was sixth in the 100m dash.

The Eagles will travel west on Highway 10 today (May 10) to participate at the Daggett Invite in Frazee starting at 3:45 p.m.

The Park Region Conference Meet will be in Pillager on May 17.
