The Perham High School Mock Trial team placed fourth at last weeks State Mock Trial Competition in Rochester.

Perham lost a close trial to Buffalo before bouncing back with victories against Luverne and Owatonna. Buffalo fell to perennial powerhouse Minneapolis South in the State Final. The fourth place matches Perham's finish in 2002.

Perham has advanced to the State Finals Competition four of the past five seasons.

Perham High School also gained special notoriety at the State Mock Trial Banquet. Attorney Terry Karkela was presented the prestigious Outstanding Professional Performance Award.

Student attorneys Katie Karkela and Jake Muszinski also earned All-State Attorney awards.

Katie Karkela received the award for the third consecutive year, an honor believed to be unmatched in the twenty years of State Mock Trial competition.
