Ted B. Riddering, Sr., 82 of Moorhead formerly New Your Mills died Thursday, December 20, 2007 in the Golden Living Center, Moorhead.
Funeral Mass will be Thursday, December 27, at 11:00 in Holy Cross Catholic Church, Butler, Minnesota with Father Joe Herzing and Father Todd Arends co-officiating. Mary Peeters will serve as organist. Pallbearers will be Philip Arends, Jacob Arends, Nathan Arends, Keith Riddering, Jason Riddering, Eric Kroke, Joshua Kroke and Doug Cox. Honorary Pallbearers will be his remaining grandchildren and Great-grandchildren. Visitation is Wednesday, December 26
from 4:00 - 8:00 with a prayer service at 7:00 at the church. The visitation will continue on Thursday for one hour before Mass. Interment will be in Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery.
Ted, son of Ernest and Grace (Sweere) Riddering, was born July 8, 1925 on his family farm near Butler where he attended school and grew to manhood. After his schooling he worked on the family farm. In February of 1941 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served with the newly formed Seabees in the Pacific Theater of war during World War II. He was honorably discharged in 1945 and moved to Arizona where he worked as a miner.
He married Stella Stinnett on March 29, 1949 in Miami, Arizona. They lived in Arizona, New Mexico and Missouri where he worked in the construction trade. In 1960 he moved to Butler and in 1964 to Perham. He continued to work construction until his retirement in 1990. He lived in the Scandia Apartments in New York Mills and in May of this year moved to Sabin to live with his daughter.

Ted was a life member of the VFW of Perham and the American Legion Post in New York Mills. He enjoyed fishing, was an avid reader and enjoyed watching TV. His greatest joy was his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by one daughter, Darlena (Francis) Arends of Sabin; two sons, Ted Jr. (Peggy) Riddering of Barnesville and Dave (Anna) Riddering also of Barnesville; 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. He is also survived by two brothers, John Riddering of Globe, Arizona, Ben (BeBe) Riddering of Lake City, Florida; four sisters, Rita (Bob) Kennedy of Madison, Wisconsin, Johanna Dulski of New York Mills, Mary Nordick of Madison, Wisconsin, and Teresa (Butch) Martin of Globe.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two granddaughters and one sister.
