The ITOW Veterans Museum Telethon May 20 netted nearly $4,000 for the museum's building project.

The Telethon, which was produced by ACS LocalLinc and hosted by Lakes Radio's Dave Howey, was held Sunday, May 20 at the ITOW Veterans Museum and included live interviews and pre-recorded footage from the museum.

Appearing on the telethon were veterans, who shared their stories with the television audience. Educators also appeared on the program to discuss the value of the museum in teaching history to students.

Among the interview subjects that appeared during the live broadcast were: Dan Schroeder, Tim Schmitz, Ted Wenner, Susan MacDonald, Sandra Weiser-Matthews, Tricia Hamann, Bryce Anderson, Kirk D. Van Dorn, John Knight, Lisa Glynn, Larry Kempenich, Millie Lauer and Rama Calabria.

The museum, which opened last August, has received national attention for its state-of-the-art exhibits.

More than a memorial, the ITOW Veterans Museum is filled with the voices of thousands of veterans whose stories are too important to be forgotten.

The Friends of the History Museum of East Otter Tail County, who own the ITOW Veterans Museum, are working hard to raise money to finish the exterior.
