'The Hormel Girls'

Elisa Korenne will be appearing at 'The USO Show' on Saturday, September 27. She will perform "Hormel Girls", a tribute to JC Hormel's remarkable group of ex-military women who sold Hormel products by day and performed musicals by night.

This is a sneak preview of an exciting concert to be recorded live on December 12 when Elisa Korenne will perform "Ordinarily Unsung Heroes," a concert of songs and stories created for the Minnesota Sesquicentennial.

"The USO Show" is the theme of this year's annual volunteer appreciation and membership banquet sponsored by the Friends of the History Museum of East Otter Tail County. The event will be held at the ITOW Veterans Museum, 805 West Main, Perham.

Social hour will begin at 6:00 with refreshments in the lobby. Local organizations that offer programs and support for veterans will be showcased in the lobby. The dinner begins at 7:00 in the Mess Hall.

The menu includes pecan crusted chicken breast topped with a parmesan cream sauce, slow roasted pork tenderloin with mushrooms, baby red potatoes with herbed butter and fresh parsley, seared balsamic glazed carrots and fresh vegetable salad with broccoli, cauliflower and assorted cheeses. Entertainment during the dinner will be provided by the Whispering Pines Band.

After dinner the "USO" show will be held in the Main Gallery. Emcee and special guest for the evening will be Lynn Roberts, performing as Bob Hope. Other entertainment will include Kurt Hoesly's acappella singing group, Impromptu. The evening will also include the annual report from executive director Lina Belar, and a preview of upcoming events for both museums.
