Three people were arrested April 8 in connection with multiple thefts and burglaries in Ottertail.

Chad Allan Kampa, 33, Matthew Dillon Heaton, 42, and Stephanie Rose Schmitt, 43, have been charged with felony counts of burglary in the 2nd and 3rd degrees after allegedly burglarizing a home and shed on Rush Lake Loop and stealing a trailer from behind an Ottertail business.

According to a report from the Otter Tail County Sheriff's Office, the trio was found with help from a caller who reported an unfamiliar vehicle parked outside of a home known to belong to a seasonal resident. Upon inspection, a deputy discovered evidence of a break-in.

Kampa, Heaton and Schmitt were located in Ottertail later that evening, allegedly in possession of stolen items. They were traveling in two different cars, both of which were reportedly stolen (one of them was from Perham).

If convicted, Kampa, Heaton and Schmitt each face a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison or $30,000 in fines. They are scheduled to appear in court on April 23.
