Balance and depth were keys to the Yellowjacket track and field teams winning the Anderson-Cole Invite at Meinhover Field last Thursday. The boys finished with 121 points, 14 ahead of runner-up, D-G-F. The girls ran past the rest of the nine-team field with 149 points. Runner-up Park Rapids finished with 104.
Boys
The boys team had four first place finishes on their way to the team victory. Caleb Anderson won the 400m dash (51.38) and also finished second in the 200m dash (23.46). Kevin Lachowitzer won the 3200m run (10:15.13) and also helped the 4x800 relay team to a first place finish.

The teams final victory was earned by Nathan Lillis with a pole vault of 116.
Perham showed their depth in the distance runs. Three runners, Tristan Covington, Bryan Paridon and Parker Carignan all placed in the top-6 in the 800m run. Paridon, Justin Tellinghuisen, Charlie Nord and Eddie Stenger all placed in the 1600m and Nick Adkins was runner-up to Lachowitzer in the 3200m.
Kurt Weber and Nick Adams finished fifth and sixth, respectively, in the 400m dash. Weber also had a fourth place finish in the 100m hurdles, right behind teammate Jake Hunter, who was third.
Alex Lindemann had a pair of sixth place finishes, in the 200m dash and in the triple jump.
In field events, Perham showed some strength in the discus, with three, Mike Restad, Caleb Ruer and Lillis, all placing in the top-6. Aaron Field and Restad also placed in the shot put.
Girls
The Lady Jackets brought home six first place ribbons. Brittany Gigstead led the team with two, winning the 800m run (2:28.90) and the 1600m (5:26.21). Maddie Covington was runner-up in the 800m run and was third in the 1600m.
Sadie Ellenberg completed the Perham sweep in the distance races with a win in the 3200m (12:39.40). Diana Tastad finished fourth in the race.

The Jackets had a pair of relay teams finish first, the 4x100 and the 4x400 teams.
Ali Engel earned a pair of medals. She was runner-up in the 400m dash (1:06.56), just ahead of Shannon Winkels in third (1:07.43). Engel also placed sixth in the 200m dash.
The Perham girls looked good in the field as well, especially the pole vault, where three (Strege, Gretchen Weber, Toni Osmond) placed in the top-six.
Megan Wiebe finished second in the high jump, clearing 410. Katie Baker earned two medals, taking third in the discus and fifth in the shot put. Leah Miller finished sixth in the long jump.
Perham did compete in the Wild Oats Invite in Fergus Falls Tuesday. Final results were not available when the EB went to press.
The Jackets will take part in the D-G-F Rebel Invite on Friday, April 21 starting at 4:30 p.m. in Glyndon.
Home fans will get their second look at the track and field teams as they host the Yellowjacket Invite on April 25 starting at 4:30 p.m. at Meinhover Field.
