Troy Janke, age 37 of Elk River Minnesota, formerly of New York Mills, MN died accidentally on Sunday July 23, 2006 near Elk River. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:30 PM on Saturday July 29, 2006 at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in New York Mills with Rev. Muriel Hachfeld officiating. Dale Lubitz is the organist and Annette Pajari is the pianist. Interment is in Woodland Cemetery in New York Mills, Visitation is from 4:00 until 7:00 PM on Friday July 28, 2006 at the Karvonen and Son Funeral Home in New York Mills and will resume for an hour prior to services at the church. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 PM on Friday at the funeral home..
Troy Eric Janke was born in Golden Valley, Minnesota on February 15, 1969 the son of Warren and Charlotte (Berg) Janke. He lived in Minnetonka, MN until he reached the second grade, at which time he moved to New York Mills, MN where he graduated from high school in 1987. He entered the National Guard upon graduation from high school and after his basic training entered the Hutchinson Technical College in Hutchinson, MN, graduating in 1990. He moved to Crystal, MN and worked as a service technician servicing and installing fire control systems. He moved to Elk River, MN in 2003 and has lived there ever since.
Troy is survived by his father: Warren, New York Mills; brothers: Ross, Bertha-Hewitt, MN, and Shawn: Wadena, MN; his paternal grandmother: Anna (Janke) Jokela, Perham, MN; nieces: Brittany and Tabitha; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Troy is preceded in death by his mother.
