Turtle Fest will again be a mid-summer highlight for Perham, with a number of events spanning three days June 23-25.

A committee of several civic organizations have banded together to offer a cluster of activities--including the popular street dance, championship turtle races, peddle-tractor pull, demolition derby, fireworks, and the big Sunday parade.

"I feel good about the line-up," said Gene Jahnke, Perham Lions representative on the Turtle Fest Committee.

Organizations team up

Perham Lions members Jeff DeVillers, Mike Bashford and Jahnke have played a major role in spearheading the Turtle Fest planning. The Perham Chamber of Commerce has been the Turtle Fest organizer in the past, but this year, the event will be community based, with a cluster of events hosted by numerous organizations, said John Thorup, Chamber executive director.
