"Care and Feeding of Turtles" is another subject that could be added under the umbrella of the FFA.
For the second year, FFA volunteers have served as the "turtle-keepers" for the Perham Area Chamber of Commerce.
Throughout the summer-long schedule of Perham's famous Turtle Races, FFA volunteers worked turtle race days. In addition, they cared for the dozens of turtles during every week--including feedings three times a week.
The good deed has been appreciated by the Perham Area Chamber, because turtle-tending is a lot of responsibility, week in and week out.
This year, a donation pail was put out at the races--intended specifically to attract donations for the FFA youth.

From the donation money, the FFA was presented with a $500 check from Dan Schroeder, Perham Area Chamber of Commercer director.
The money will be set aside for those students who volunteered, to use for FFA trips and also for those who participate in FFA director Carl Aakre's annual trip to Glacier National Park.
