The filing period for New York Mills Mayor and City Council closed Tuesday with two candidates announcing they will run for Mayor.
Chuck Fredley and Larry Hodgson both filed in the City Office to run for mayor, while incumbent Diana Wallgren and newcomer William Warner filed for two seats on the City Council. Wallgren and Warner will run unopposed.
Current mayor Randy Clarksean, who served two 2-year terms, is moving out of town and will not seek a third term. Larry Szymonowicz is currently on the City Council and did not file for reelection before the 5 p.m. deadline on Tuesday.
New York Mills residents will choose the city's next mayor and city council members at the general election on Nov. 7.
The Herald will take a closer look at the candidates as the election nears.
