Two teens hurt in one-vehicle accident on Highway 78

Two young adults were injured early Thursday morning after driving around barricades and hitting construction being done on railroad tracks on Highway 78 in Otter Tail County.

Two young adults were injured early Thursday morning after driving around barricades and hitting construction being done on railroad tracks on Highway 78 in Otter Tail County.

Andrea N. Kerkeler, 18, of Phoenix and Hannah E. Naumann, 18, of Battle Lake both suffered minor injuries.

According to the State Patrol, Kerkeler was driving a 2001 Toyota Highlander northbound and went around construction barricades, hitting railroad tracks under construction on Highway 78, at mile marker 38.

The accident was reported at 12:15 a.m. on dry two-lane blacktop. The Otter Tail County Sheriff's Department assisted at the scene.
