For vacationers in the East Otter Tail lake country, there's nothing better than a warm summer day with the sun blazing overhead. Yet, the weather doesn't always cooperate, and when the rain pours, many people find entertainment in a movie.
Here's one solution for a drizzly day: a pizza, a cold 2 liter of soda, and a new release video for only $11. This special runs seven days a week at Ottertail's new Vacation Video store. Hoping to attract locals and tourists alike, the store also offers free popcorn with every movie rental.
Jessica Veazie, owner of Vacation Video, opened the store on April 1. It is located right across the highway from the recently opened Ottertail Oasis convenience store. A grand opening is scheduled for July 7. Free hot dogs will be served from 4 to 6 p.m.
"People who've been in to the store like it," said Veazie of customers' reactions to the first exclusively movie and game rental store in the city. "They've told me that Ottertail really needed a video store."
Veazie, who formerly resided in Ottertail, recently moved back to the city, along with her husband Pat and their three kids, Jackson, Santanna, and Marley. Pat works for Lund Boat Co. in New York Mills.

Veazie said she is glad to be back in Ottertail, where there are plenty of recreational activities for her family to participate in. The abundance of families in the lakes area was one of the factors considered in creating the Vacation Video store.
An entire room in the store has been dedicated to family entertainment. There is a large selection of kid's movies available, including the entire collection of Shelly Duvall's Fairy Tale Classics. Also available are X-Box, Play Station 2, and Game Cube games. Pizza, chips, cold soda, and candy are for sale, making for one easy stop for an evening of fun.
Each time customers rent a movie, they are eligible to enter into a weekly drawing for a free movie. Drawings are held every Sunday morning when the store opens.
Vacation Video is open Sunday - Wednesday from noon to 9:00 p.m. and Thursday - Saturday from noon to 11:00 p.m. The store is located on the west side of Highway 78/108 in Ottertail city.
