The Perham Turtle Fest Committee is in high gear with planning for the June 21-24 event.
Art and craft vendors are invited to participate in the event, on Saturday and Sunday. A mailing has gone out to area craft people and merchants, and so far, the committee expects at least four new food vendors and ten craft merchandise vendors--but there are spaces available.
The committee's new format for Turtle Fest includes a
Sunday "Block Party" after the 1 p.m. parade. Food, entertainment and craft vendors will be featured for several hours after the parade.

Turtle Fest is a committee of community members and the Perham Area Chamber of Commerce. The committee has been working for the last year to ensure that we continue to improve this important event. The group has been meeting monthly.
" This year's Turtle Fest committee is excited about the events that we have planned," said Nikki Shumansky, who coordinates the Turtle Fest with Marcia Lubitz and Jeff DeVillers. "With the fun we are going to have and all the people that we are going to draw to the Perham area during the week of the festival and the weeks prior, this will be a great family event. When we are promoting Turtle Fest, we are truly promoting the entire area and drawing people in to see what we have to offer in our wonderful community."
"One thing the committee is really trying to concentrate on is the quality of the parade units," noted Shumansky.
The committee's goal for this year is to raise $15,000 for the event. Letters have been sent to businesses and individuals recently, seeking contributions for the event.
The donated funds go for promotion, the parade and some of the kids activities.
Any business, firm or group that would like to contribute should write the check to "Turtle Fest" and send it to:
