The 2005-06 Women's Art Registry of Minnesota Mentor Exhibit is available for viewing in the gallery at the New York Mills Regional Cultural Center Oct. 17 through Dec. 2. The exhibit displays the work of 18 women artists who have participated in the W.A.R.M. Mentor Program.
The Mentor Program is a supportive resource that pairs emerging and professional women artists for two years. Each protegee directs the process of selecting her mentor, identifying her goals, and tracking her progress. Mentors share wisdom and skills while providing supportive critique.
The artist reception will be held Nov. 8, 5-7 p.m., with several of the artists attending. Following the reception an informal talk by the W.A.R.M. Mentor Coordinator, Mimi Holmes, also a former visiting artist with the Jerome Foundations arts retreat program, will take place from 7-9 p.m. in conjunction with the monthly Artist Forum meetings facilitated by Pam Robinson. This is a call to all the women artists in the area to meet and exchange ideas on furthering their careers.
