The suspect, Clinton Meeks, 24, allegedly assaulted a woman with a gun in Wadena about 12:30 a.m. According to the complaint, the suspect pointed a handgun at her.
Authorities traced the man to his home in New York Mills, where Otter Tail County deputies, and Wadena, New York Mills and Perham officers responded, and waited out the suspect.
Officers negotiated with the suspect by phone, and he surrendered after a period of time. Officers were cautious because the suspect was believed to be armed and intoxicated. The weapon was recovered. Meeks was arrested and transported to the Wadena County Detention Center.
He was charged Tuesday morning with two felony counts in Wadena District Court, second degree assault with a dangerous weapon, and terroristic threats.
