Funeral services were held for Walter Marvin Reynolds on Wednesday, April 11, 2007 at the Karvonen & Son Funeral Home in New York Mills, Minnesota with Pastor Al Anderson officiating. The music was provided by Claire Erickson and Vern Erickson. The pallbearers were Joshua Herold, Mike Toews, Barry Toews Sr., Barry Toews Jr., Bob Toews Sr., Bob Toews Jr. and Seth Linstaedt. Military Honors were provided by the Charles D. Center V.F.W. Post #3289 of New York Mills, Minnesota. Marvin was laid to rest in Woodland Cemetery, New York Mills, Minnesota.
Walter Marvin Reynolds was born on May 18, 1926 in New York Mills, Minnesota. His parents were the late Melvin and Anna (Holmstrom) Reynolds. Marvin grew up and attended school in New York Mills, Minnesota. The Reynolds family moved to Hawthorne, California in the mid 1950's. Marvin served in the United States Army as a medical specialist from December 15, 1953 until July 1, 1955. He returned to the family farm in New York Mills, Minnesota until 1957 when he returned to Hawthorne, California. Marvin was employed at Lockheed in Hawthorne, California. On September 5, 1957 Marvin was united in marriage to Carolyn Dorothea Severtson at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Hawthorne, California. Marvin & Carolyn resided in Lawndale, California for five years where he was employed at McDonnel Douglas. They purchased a home in Redondo Beach, California where they resided from 1963 to 1991. Marvin was self employed as an electrical contractor. In 1991 they retired and returned to New York Mills, Minnesota and Marvin worked part time for Mid-State Auto Auction in New York Mills, Minnesota. Marvin enjoyed playing baseball and fishing. He especially enjoyed ice fishing. On April 5, 2007 Marvin passed away at the Perham Memorial Nursing home at 80 years of age. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Preceding Marvin in death were his parents, Melvin & Anna.

Marvin is survived by his wife, Carolyn of New York Mills; his children: Ted (Joan) Reynolds of Hillsboro, Oregon; Tim (Angie) Reynolds of New York Mills & Kirsten (Don) Born of Torrance, California; grandchildren: Nicole, Nathaniel, Jacob and Lydia; step-grandchildren: Keith & Jeremy; sister, Melvina (Ed) Toews of New York Mills; brothers: Don (Lyla) Reynolds of Huntington Beach, California; Al (Vicky) Reynolds of Huntington Beach, California; Daryl (Diana) Reynolds of Plana, Texas; many other relatives and a host of friends.

Arrangements were provided by the Karvonen & Son Funeral Home in New York Mills, Minnesota.
