Several properties were damaged and one man was killed in the tornado that touched down southeast of Dalton at 5:15 p.m. on July 8, according to an Otter Tail County Sheriff's report.

The National Weather Service confirmed that a EF-3 tornado touched down. As a result, a home and a machine shed were separated from their foundations and blown away, according to the report.

The report said, that 30-year-old Seth Nelson, of Battle Lake, was in a machine shop when he was killed by the tornado.

Two other people were injured by the tornado and were transported to hospitals and were released after being treated for minor injuries, according to the report.

The report said, that the Red Cross is currently on standby to help families who were impacted by the tornado and the county damage assessment teams started assessing the damage in the morning on July 9. The National Weather Service has also been on site helping with the assessment.
