The changeover from warm to cold weather this week was rapid and unsettling. On Monday, Fargo hit 77 degrees and Grand Forks was 74 degrees, both breaking records set in 1986. Fargo dropped to 24 degrees by morning. Grand Forks fell to 22. Tuesday afternoon, the high in Fargo reached 31 degrees while Grand Forks only recovered to 26. The average high temperature Tuesday is 45 degrees for Fargo and 43 for Grand Forks.
Records were set Monday in the heat but not Tuesday in the cold. Tuesday's disappointingly cold weather was actually a great deal closer to the average than Monday's warmth. Despite a couple of chilly days this week, this spring continues much above the average temperature regime we have been in most of the time since last September.
