It was a little too close for comfort.
The Otter Tail County Auditor has announced that they will be recounting the votes in the sheriff's race that had current Chief Deputy Barry Fitzgibbons narrowly winning over Fergus Falls Police Chief Kile Bergren by only six votes.
In an expected move, Bergren filed for the recount, which will happen Dec. 3 at 9 a.m. in the Commissioners'/Otter Tail Lake Room of the Government Services Center, located at 515 Fir Ave. W. in Fergus Falls. This recount will be open to the public and candidates may be represented by counsel.
Fitzgibbons took home 49.93 percent of the vote, or 12,711 to Bergren's 49.9 percent or 12,705 votes.
