A Battle Lake woman and 3-year-old girl were injured in an accident in Fergus Falls on Monday.

Erin Elizabeth Bottko, age 23, was driving a 2001 Oldsmobile Alero on Highway 210 east of Fergus Falls when, witnesses say, she looked down toward her lap and then moved into oncoming traffic, according to a Minnesota State Patrol report. The Alero then moved back into the correct lane before going into a ditch, down a hill, across a dirt road and into a tree.

Bottko and the young passenger were both transported to Lake Region Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries.

The 3-year-old was not wearing a seatbelt, the patrol reports.

The crash occurred at 5:40 p.m. on a wet road. Otter Tail County authorities assisted at the scene.
