No matter what the opinion is, there is no denying that the people of Perham are talking about the new Senior Center! Word has certainly gotten around the seniors grapevine that Perham is serious about building us a place and it has increased our attendance.
New seniors are coming to see what this Senior Center is all about and it delightful to meet each and every one of them.
February is proving to be a fun month at the Senior Center. We have begun to start out each day with Chicken Foot Dominoes. If you have never played, it is a very easy, fun and fast-moving game. We also have Checkers or puzzles if that is more your style. Or you can sit and chat with a cup of coffee and a friend.
We had a wonderful lunch with Gladys Vareberg. She is a local artist who specializes in animal and human oil portraits. Gladys artwork has been sold all over the country and she even has special clients in New York who purchase her work. Gladys is a senior who taught herself to sketch when she was about three years old. She took a few courses at an art school and the rest is just her raw talent. The seniors were just in awe of her artwork.

Every month we now have lunch with a Pastor in town. February is lunch with Pastor Parks of the United Methodist Church. It is very interesting to learn about the clergy in our community and how they ended up serving in Perham.
Our Valentine Party promises to be a delightful time. Al Koplin will bring his accordion for some good tunes that we can all sing and stomp our feet to. We also will be crowning our new King and Queen! Joanne Wenner our current Queen will perform the coronation of our new royalty.
Observing Hoodie Hoo Day?
On February 20 we will celebrate Hoodie Hoo Day. It is an interesting holiday that lots of senior centers across the nation celebrate. If you have never heard of this holiday before, just bring a summer hat and come and see us at the center around noon. If you have any noise makers, bring them as well. This promises to be a wacky time and we will share the event with another Senior Center in the good old U.S.A. That center is a mystery to everyone but me but I promise that our seniors will enjoy sharing this experience with other seniors clear across the country. Oops... Id better be quiet before I give it away.
If you have not yet come to the Perham Senior Center, you really must come and see what is happening!
We are located at the Fire Hall at 525 West Main Street. Give us a call between 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at 346-2262.
