A young woman and dog were struck by an eastbound train and killed shortly after 6 p.m. Saturday in Wadena.
According to the Wadena County Sheriff's Office, a young female and dog were seen on the train tracks in town east of Highway 71. The train was stopped on the tracks after the accident, closing all railroad crossings in town for about three hours.
The name of the victim has not been released and is pending notification of family.
The Wadena County Sheriff’s Office and Wadena Police Department are continuing to investigate, along with BNSF railroad investigators.
