Testing for COVID-19 is an important step in controlling the pandemic. Testing enables individuals who are positive for the coronavirus to isolate themselves – reducing the chance that they will infect others and allowing treatment earlier, likely reducing disease severity and the risk of long-term disability or death.

Testing is available to anyone in Minnesota, at no cost.

There are several COVID-19 testing options available to help make testing as convenient as possible and to remove any possible barriers:

  • Community Testing Sites –There are several community testing sites throughout the state. Walk-ins are welcome; however, signing up ahead of time helps long lines and makes social distancing easier. The nearest community testing site is in Moorhead. Appointments can be scheduled at mncovidtestingappt.as.me/.

  • At-home Testing – An at-home saliva testing kit is available through the Minnesota Department of Health at no charge for any person who believes they need to be tested. Order your test at learn.vaulthealth.com/state-of-minnesota/. Ship your sample to the specified lab using a prepaid UPS package and get your result in 24 to 48 hours after your sample arrives.

  • Pharmacies – Select pharmacies around the area offer on-site testing as well as testing kits to do at home.

  • Clinic – The Perham Health Clinic offers testing by appointment only, Monday through Friday. Call 218-347-1200.

Unless you are seriously ill, you should not go to an emergency department for COVID-19 testing.
