Barnesville trio leads Trojans over Yellowjackets

The state-ranked Barnesville Trojans (2-0, 1-0) took advantage of Perham turnovers, earning a 53-45 victory over the Perham Yellowjackets in the girls basketball Heart O’Lakes Conference opener for both teams on Nov. 30 in Perham.

Nicole Herbranson led all scorers for the Trojans when she poured in 16 points. Andria McIntyre finished with 13 in the win for the Trojans, who are ranked 18th in the latest Minnesota Basketball News Poll.

Elora Passa finished with 14 points, while McIntyre added 13 for the Trojans. The Trojans had success at the free throw line, hitting 14 of their 19 attempts in the win.

The Yellowjackets hit six 3-pointers but were unable to get to the line in the game. The Yellowjackets hit three of their five free throw attempts.

Gabby DeBoer finished with 13 points to lead the Yellowjackets. She scored eight of her 13 points in the second half. Rachel Muer finished with eight points. She hit two of the six 3-pointers in the game. Lisa Meader added six points with two 3-pointers as well.

The Yellowjackets (1-1, 0-1) return home for another Heart O’Lakes Conference contest when they take on Breckenridge on Thursday, Dec. 7 at 7:30 p.m. at the Prairie Wind Middle School gymnasium.
