Maplewood State Park will host its annual Candlelight Ski event on Saturday, Feb. 23 from 6 to 8:30 p.m.
The park's one-mile ski trail will be lighted with 150 candles, a wonderful sight to see. Come and enjoy the evening; ski, hike, or snowshoe, stand around the campfire, chat with friends, and enjoy hot chili, smores, bars, and hot drinks. Maplewood State Park also has 20 sets of snowshoes that you can try out. The chili will be hot and ready to serve by 5 p.m., so come early and enjoy skiing some of Maplewood's eight miles of trails that afternoon, then join the Friends of Maplewood at the Trail Center for supper before heading out to enjoy the candlelit trail.
All those planning to ski who are age 16 or older must have a Ski Pass; cost is $6. A one-year ski pass can also be purchased for $20 at the park, or at most sports stores in the area. As always, Minnesota Park Stickers are required to park your vehicle there. Questions can be answered by calling Maplewood State Park at 218-863-8383.
