Donna M. Ziegler
Donna M. Ziegler, age 91 of Perham, died Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at Elk Ridge Assisted Living.
Donna was born on a farm near Hewitt, MN on May 1, 1931, to Arthur and Ella (Hormann) Baumgartner. She was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hewitt and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wadena, MN. She was raised in Wadena and graduated in 1949.
She was married to Alvin A. Ziegler on October 30, 1949. Together the couple had four children, Carol, David, Sharon, and John. In 1953, they moved to their farm where they resided for 63 years.
Donna worked at Gerry’s Business and Tax, doing accounting and income taxes for 25 years. She had many hobbies and interests such as golfing, bowling, playing cards, and quilting. She will be remembered for the quilts she created for her grandchildren’s graduations. Donna was also a member of several groups and clubs including a quilting group, St. Paul’s LWML, Gorman Homemaker’s Group, Red Hats, Golf and Bowling Leagues, and was a 4-H Leader. She also enjoyed traveling, with a few notable trips being to Nashville, Alaska, Branson and California. She especially enjoyed time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Donna is survived by her children, Carol (Gary) Hartwig, David (Debra) Ziegler, Sharon (Michael) Riewer, and John (Vickie) Ziegler; eight grandchildren, six step grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 21 step great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and nine step great-great grandchildren; sister, Elaine Haedtke; sisters-in-law, Violet Zitzow, Joan (Bob) Weis and Cindy Ziegler.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Alvin in 2005; her parents, Art and Ella Baumgartner; sisters, Velma, Ardis, and Joyce; brother, Mert; brothers-in-law, Courtney, Donald, Ellsworth, Norman, Leland, Erv, Deopold, and Paul; sister-in-law, Melva; her parents-in-law, Arthur and Kathryn Ziegler; and step-grandson, Ollin Peterson.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 2, 2022, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Perham. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
