Edgar “Butch” Meyer

Edgar “Butch” Meyer formerly of Perham, MN passed away peacefully at 91 on June 8th, 2022 at Sunrise Assisted Living in Roseville, MN. He was born June 30th, 1930 to Ed and Ida Meyer. Edgar was baptized plus confirmed at St. Johns Lutheran Church in  Corliss and graduated from Perham High School. Growing up, Edgar worked with his  Uncle Henry on the farm and later took over the dairy farm. He married Margaret  “Marge” Welter and had 4 children.

During his lifetime, Butch was a board member of the Perham Coop Creamery and a  member of the Perham Hospital Board as well as a member of the Lake Region Coop.  He worked as a County Appraiser for the Ottertail Assessors Office until  retirement. Moving to Roseville, Edgar worked part-time mowing lawn at the golf  course and also in the Bakery at Byerly’s where he enjoyed working with young people until the age of 82. Butch remained active by traveling with his special friend  Dorothy, spending time with his neighbors Eric, Tingting and their daughter Anna.  He continued to golf, go to ballgames in the city, eating out at the many  restaurants, having lively debates about politics and attending Lutheran Church  services. 

Edgar is survived by his children Brien (Deb), Mark (Ellie), Rita (Dennis),  daughter-in-law Yvonne, brother Jerome (Delaine), sister-in-law Karen and several  grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his son David, parents, siblings, Adeline, Ardelle, Billy, Buster and his companion Dorothy Smuder.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later day.
