Gary Honer, age 83 of Dent, MN died Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at Perham Health. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 p.m. with Parish Prayers at 6:30 on Friday, March 10 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dent. Visitation will resume beginning at 9:30 a.m. followed by the Memorial Mass at 10:30 on Saturday, March 11 at Sacred Heart Church. Interment and Military Honors will follow in the church cemetery.

Gary Edward Honer was born in Perham, MN on March 8, 1940, the son of Jake and Frances (Cullen) Honer. Soon after graduating from Perham High School, Gary enlisted in the Army and was honorably discharged. On April 19, 1965, Gary was united in marriage to Rose Vogel. After getting married, Gary attended farm school in Perham. While continuing to farm, Gary owned and operated Honer Construction, Honer Sewer, the Dent Café, and Gary Honer Saw, Tool, and Small Engine Repair. He also held the position of fire chief for the Dent Fire Department for 17 years. Gary enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed playing different games, but only if he won!

Surviving Gary are his wife Rose; his children Thomas “Tom”, Monica (Kevin) LaPoint, Vickie (Karl) Unger, Darlene (Brian) McGlone, Benita (Mike) Gossman, Mara (Jesse) Rausch, and Lora (Jeremy Jude); his grandchildren Devin (Mary), Zach (Kristina), Seb, Bobbie (Shane), Nathan (Sam), Quinn, Ian, Rochelle, Ryan, Ayden, Arielle, Kolten, Isabella, and Keegan; seven great-grandchildren; siblings Angie (Mike), Kathy, Timothy, Debbie (Gerry), and Pat (Pam); sisters-in-law Elaine and Lisa; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
