Letter: Lights of Hope honors those touched by cancer

A person holds a letter with the text "letter to the editor" overlaid on the image.

To the editor:

We can all use some inspiration and hope right now. As a volunteer advocate and American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network volunteer, I am inspired by the organization’s work to fight cancer. I’m grateful for an easy way to inspire others right now.

Each year, ACS CAN holds its annual Lights of Hope ceremony to honor and remember those touched by cancer through a visual tribute with thousands of lit bags featuring the names of loved ones and their cancer story. The pandemic may prevent us from gathering in-person this year, but it won’t stop our lifesaving work.

This year, Lights of Hope bags will be displayed in homes and neighborhoods across America on Saturday, Sept. 12. My Lights of Hope display will be up at N.P. Park in Perham from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday.

Please feel welcome to drive by to see the display and all of the Lights of Hope bags.

Let’s show the world that even during a pandemic, cancer doesn’t stop, so neither do we.
